Anyone running the 3.91 gears with FI?
Looks like I might be able to scoop up a 3.91 carrier out of a 1LE.
Any mating up issues in a V6 car? Also from the other sub forums looks like the GM 3.91 gears are pretty reasonably priced, just need to get the speedo calibrated. Anyone running non stock rear ends/gears on here with the V6 and FI? If so, thoughts? Rich |

Any ring and pinion for the Camaro V8 will slip right into a V6 diff. with manual trans. Not so for the automatic.
I'm not sure about a complete V8 "pumpkin"- not sure if the axles are interchangeable. I've got the 3.73 Richmond gear in mine and love it. IMHO, 3.91 would be too deep in 1st gear, making it a tractor gear and just about unusable on the street with FI. |

MagnumForceGB just switched to 3.91 gears.. you might ask him about it. He has a centri supercharger so he needs more low end torque.. idk how much we would benefit from them.
Btw, how's the car doing? Did you get it all sorted out?

Magnum's also got an automatic which has a different (taller) first gear.
Make sure you're comparing apples to apples... |

Correct, I have an Auto. I am sure I can talk the guy out of the axles he has them too (and the brakes). Only thing I was worried about is if the V6 driveshaft would be compatible with the whole rear end.

Jeff stopped returning my calls. Never any updates on the HP Tuner cable, blah, blah. However Stas (Fabberge) has been very responsive, and I just sent him my CC info on a HP cable kit (after waiting weeks for Jeff at IPS) to hopefully get my tune straightened out. Ill update more when I get the cable and we see how the tune goes. Rich |

And sorry to hear that about IPS, sure doesn't seem right. Glad to hear Stas is helping you out. Hope the tune works out well for you.

Talk to magnum for more in-depth details since he's done this already, but all you need to do is buy a used SS stock 2-piece driveshaft for cheap and swap in the rear half that bolts to the diff and then buy the corresponding axles and wheel hubs, everything will bolt up. So for the 1LE diff, in addition to the driveshaft peice, you just need to buy the thicker 1LE axles and 1LE wheel hubs. The Driveshaft Shop also sells a one peice driveshaft that connects the V6 auto trans to M6/SS/1LE rear diff.
Here's a link to the DIY of a guy in Russia making the swap from A6 open to SS LSD (The part list in this thread are for M6/SS axles and hubs which aren't as beefy as the 1LE therefore SS axles and hubs will not work with the 1LE diff but any SS rearshaft will work with the 1LE diff): http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=384200

Just FYI- there's a fine looking ZL1 rear end in the classified with 3.73's
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=390970 It would also require different axles, etc.. But shouldn't be any worse than the 1LE swap! |

Nice! I think you'll be the first twin turbo V6 auto to run 3.91 gears...
Now you need some big brakes for the front.

Be prepared for no traction fun on the street but terrible on the track.
