Sorry cant make it, some day!
Dealer is replacing end links and bushings, parts on order. We will see if that cures the clunks. |

Well, one thought I had is if there is grease packed in the joints at the factory and the tolerances are such (too big) that once the grease moves around a bit the joint starts to have more movement within and the clunking starts. Just a theory of course.
The dealer has been great and they are going to put "chassis ears" on the car to see it's something else. Will be interesting to see/hear and they will check the bolts while there of course. Thanks for all your help. |

2013 Strut Mount Changes
The front strut mount has been changed slightly for 2013. The change appears to be a simplification of the manufacturing process. Watch this video for the details. There is no change of substance in terms of function from the older mount to the new mount. The upper coil eye dimension has not been changed. Pedders lowering coils are still a perfect fit to the steel an urethane insulator. You can count on Pedders to bring you the most up-to-date information for your 5th Gen Camaro. I sincerely doubt the new style mount and insulator will have any impact on strut noise. There is the slightest possibility that the egg-crate grid the new steel insulator mates to could possibly transmit less noise. The main reason I doubt it will help is we completely discard the insulator when we install coilovers and have never had a complaint regarding strut noise after a high quality installation. I could be wrong and it may be worth asking your dealer about this change. |

Pete,
I really admire you for helping swan with his quest in fixing his problem. I mean, this problem is not yours, yet you continue to monitor this thread and offer up advice. A real class act! -Funk

It's back at the dealer (frankly, my last effort at getting this cured). They found a bulletin or two that relates to front end noise and they are going to use the "ears" to locate the exact location, etc. They've been really great about looking into this for me and really appreciate Pedder's support as well.
I'll let you know if they find anything that can be cured. |

Sadly it did not and in fact it's worse. Almost wish I never tried to get this cured.
They replaced both struts, mounts and bumpers. It was quiet for the first day I had it back and then each day it got worse and worse. It acts like something is loosening but I can't get any movement out of the various bolts. At this point I suspect it's a noise internal to the struts or it's those end links or bar bushings again (will play more this weekend). Thanks for all your support in diagnosing this, I'm very disappointed that this can't be fixed right w/o money injection from me. |

There is nothing I can see or touch that would indicate it has superior NVH characteristics, but it might be worth another visit with your Chevy Dealer. |

Thanks, I did. But they used chassis ears and said it was the struts. So they replaced them, I wasn't going to argue as I figured I had bad struts.

I'm pretty sure the struts are same as 2013 too, they have that light color to the bearing from what I can tell looking up into the wheel well.
