Lowering the Camaro

This is the stance I love in a muscle car. What do you guys think about dropping the camaro this low for an every day car? Also how much lower is this than the stock camaro?

You had better get some smaller mufflers because those ones would be gone within a day in real-world driving conditions. Not to mention that damage to the underside with speedbumps, driveways and parking garages. Ever hit a poorly aligned overpass on a freeway? Put your Camaro this low and you'll likely become good friends with your chiropractor.

id say its a good 3 inches. there should be no problem doing that with a lowering spring kit. thats what i plan on doing to mine. i love a nice low ride no matter how rough it is . it handles so good.

Hard to say how much it's been lowered, those appear to be smaller diameter tires. You can bet money tho that at that height you'll want hi-rate springs to keep the dirty side off the asphalt. That's a kindey buster...It does look hot tho.

That car is running 18's with a fairly low sidewall, so you've lost height there. That car, if you look underneath it in the rear shot, also has mufflers hanging about 2 inches off the ground. Get a ruler and measure out two inches. That's probably at least 3 or 4 inches lower than stock, because the car has to have some semblance of ground clearance.

In short, daily driver? Absolutely not.

I daily drive a 1999 C5 FRC... if you look in my sig, you'll see the car next to my 2002 Z28... its low enough that if you put your foot underneath the car, you kick the frame... I have no problems driving it anywhere, I just know that if there are speed bumps that are too large, I can't go in there... so I make sure and keep a careful eye out for road debris, uneven pavement and larger than average speed bumps or speed bumps that do not have an approach to them.

if you know how to drive it, you can drive a lowered car almost anywhere... its all about knowing your machine and knowing the limits of your abilities.

Like silverturtle has said you just have to be more careful when driving. Your vehicle will no longer be able to straddle those dead animals, instead you will be scooping it up and relocating it further down the road.

My civic is lowered 2 inches and haven't had any series problems. I just upset a lot of people because I go over speed bumps slow and they want to dukes of hazard over them in their suv's.

I was concerned about the lowering capabilities of the Camaro as well. I'm actually thinking about more of a hunched stance for mine, lowering only the front of the car to give it that drag look. The GS Racecar is indeed insanely low, those mufflers are almost scratching the road. Lowering one and a half to two inches should give you the aesthetic you're looking for while still enabling a moderately normal driving experience.

so if this was a 3.5 inch drop do you think the 2 inch pedders kit will be streetable?
