I would like to know if the autos that are running slow were broken in easy? If they were, it could be part of the problem as to why they are running slow.

You are on a Camaro forum so most members would say go with the Camaro. Im a die hard GM fan till the day I die so I say get the Camaro BUT its your choice on what to get. The GT500 does has some get up and go to it though. I was going to say compare costs but if that is not an issue to you then go with whatever will make you more happy in the end. Good luck!

Well I did not baby my auto and with a catback and full tune my best ET was 12.5. The trans tune alone wiped off almost a second, as the factory tune was a joke. The car barks 2nd and 3rd and with the TC off its difficult to maintain traction during the launch. Before the tune it struggled to break the tires free. I'm hoping with the next mods and the perfect day/launch I could get into the 11'sIf I were trying to make 1000HP I would go with a manual, it could get pretty pricey making the 6L80E handle that power. Sorry, definitley go with the Camaro, the suspension and breaks alone are far superior to the stang. All test show the stang is very slopy with the slightest bump in the road. The stock Camaro already beats the Shelby off the line, unfortunately the extra HP catches up and gets the win in the end

Get a GT500 and make it 1000+hp, then get the Camaro for a DD and just do some bolt-ons.

Take a drive with both and see which one you feel more comfortable in. Have you sat in either? FYI, if you do get the GT500, you should probably change your user name. Also your sidebar says you drive a 2010 Camaro SS RS so I guess you already made a decision. Just messing with you.

THe gt500 has a live axle. Which is better for 1/4 mile racing. The Camaro IRS is holding up....but any racer will tell you they want a live axle back there...not a IRS. That is why so many Cobra owners who were racers, switched the IRS out for a live Axle. Last the GT500 has a forge engine. The Camaro does not. So you have a better base to build from. If you are trying to make that power in the Camaro, you are basically going to need to rebuild that engine. The GT500 can take up to 800 in its stock form. So it will not need as much once you get into higher power levels. |

This guy doesn't need a car he needs a jet! Money is no issue to you I'm guessing but I'm sure with a similar investment into the Camaro vs the GT500 the Camaro can end up being much more powerful than stated in your post. But it only comes down to which one looks better after a certain break point in power. That is ridiculous power but like you said the GT500 will end up faster with same mods, but the Camaro can be if you spend the same money, I know I said it twice you need to hear it though. So looks wise the Camaro bud.

I thought I saw a test where the Camaro stopped in a shorter distance than the GT and Challenger. The test did also mention the fade of the Mustangs breaks. In any other real world race ,not the strip, test show the Camaro is far superior. The IRS edges out the Stang in stability on curvy bumpy roads. I have to agree with you, the GT500 would make a better drag car in its stock form. However, I think the Camaro looks cooler going down the track

A forged 6.2 will beat a forged 5.4 any day of the week if all mods are equal. If your aiming for 1000+ then not much on either car will remain stock and therefore the camaro has a better base to build on.
