I bought a blacked out one with the chrome outside and taped the middle black area. Then spray painted the chrome part black and did a gloss later too. It turned out great, not into the chrome look anymore!

I'm thinking I'll be doing the same thing. Will have lots of downtime this winter when it gets here to do little projects like that lol.

Yellow and blue are two colors that go well together. Props for taking the "road less traveled" and not instinctively reaching for a bucket of bright red caliper paint. Although red calipers go with anything, and would be nice with Hyper Blue too.

I have absolutely no first hand experience painting or clear coating calipers, but fastball's comment led me to an internet search where I found this on a Cadillac forum... thought I'd share. from G2's site: "I’ve received quite a few questions about clear coat lately. Specifically, which clear coat would I recommend for use with our G2 High Temperature Brake Caliper Paint System Set and our G2 High Temperature Engine Paint System Set? My answer to this question is simple… None! Only inferior single stage ceramic based paint kits cure to a matte finish and only inferior single stage ceramic based paint kits require a clear coat to give them a high gloss shine. The reason you are buying our high quality dual stage epoxy based brake caliper paint kit and not some inferior ceramic based kit is because our G2 High Temperature Brake Caliper Paint System Set and our G2 High Temperature Engine Paint System Set will cure to a high gloss finish, so there is no need for a clear coat. The problem with adding a clear coat is that most are not heat resistant and will yellow and brown if exposed to the high temperatures associated with the friction created from braking, distorting the base coat color and making it appear to be a darker shade at best and downright awful at worst! To be honest… Even those clear coats which are heat resistant have a tendency to peel so it is really not recommended that you apply them to your calipers" |

Cool thanks! I was just asking because I actually like the chrome border on the black bowtie, and wanted to make sure that's how they both came
