Coupe sales poor?????

I seem to recall a lot of gloom and doom while the Camaro was in development about how 2 door coupes sales are traditionally poor and therefore make a poor business case for a manufacturer to bring one to market. Funny thing is lately I've noticed quite a few of the Altima coupes running around here in Indy. Didn't even know what it was until I got close enough to read the nameplate on the back but it did catch my eye as a pretty sharp looking car, especially from rear angles (not too crazy about the front though). Looking at the Nissan site for the pricing it looks to be similar to the Camaros. Also reading that the new Hyundai coupe sales are exceeding expectations so far. I think this bodes well for the Camaro if people can just get over their poor preconceptions of domestic vehicles. Chevrolet sould bring back their old patriotic "Baseball, apple pie and Chevrolet" ad campaign, I bet it did pretty well for them back then.
LONG LIVE THE CAMARO!!!!!!!!!!

Funny how little the "experts" really know when it comes to predicting what people will buy. Example: "SUV loving americans will never buy one of those little Mini-Coopers,,,,,,," yeah right!

Coupes are starting to make a bit of a comeback little by little, so it's not really surprising to me at all.

One reaso the Monte Carlo was dropped. Not that it was a bad car, just nobody was buying coupes... I saw where the Monte was on the most reliable list for JD powers....

I would say that most people would prefer the coupe but have to choose 4 doors for practicality. When you have a family it is hard to get away from 4 doors. I think with the Camaro it will not matter all that much. Plus if it was a determining factor for wether or not to produce a coupe there wouldn't be mustangs, challlengers and corvettes or them other cars that are imported that I can't seem to remember their names There is still a good market for the coupe IMO.

the Altima coupe sells well... the 350Z and G35 coupe sold well... the 370Z/G37coupe sell well... the Civic coupe sells well... the new Genesis coupe sells well... the Mustang sells well, even after being the only domestic rwd muscle car in production for 6 years...

the Camaro will do just fine... the "gotta have it factor" combined with the impressive new characteristics will keep it selling strong for quite a while... and the V6 getting 29mpg on the new highway mileage ratings will help, too

True. Just depends on the coupe and the value it has to offer. That new Genesis, the 370Z and the Camaro are selling pretty briskly. The Challenger is just sitting on the lot.
