To people who have driven a 2013+ V6 and V8
I know the V8/V6 is a very touchy topic around here and I certainly am not posting this to start a flame war. I love/admire all camaros and always give them the when I see them out and about.
As some of you might know, I'm somewhat in the market for one. In my mind I think the 1LE/RS is what I would like but I was weighing all the stats vs each other and my Charger R/T. The HP isn't that bad on the v6 the thing that gets me is the torque. I have only seen stats on paper and can imagine what the diffrence feels like but I would like to hear others thoughts. The only thing I can think of in the v6 favor in my books is the 100~ miles you can get on the highway but thats only like a $13 dollar difference and If your buying a muscle car you should know gas is going to be more expensive than others and what not. Again, not trying to start any flame wars here look forward to reading your guys responses! |

If you want a 1LE/RS and you get a V6 you'll be sorry. That's pretty much end of story.
Edit: See this thread. Posted just a couple minutes after yours: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=314707 |

If you can afford the v8 get the v8 from a v6 camaro driver. My v6 isn't slow by any means a blast to drive would prefer a v8 though. if my insurance wasn't so high would of got a v8

i'm kind of confused...what sort of information are you looking for here? what are your priorities for the car? is cost of ownership a concern? i guarantee you the V6 will win that category too...
that being said, the 1LE is just a blast to drive not to be a dick, but i'd recommend you test drive a 6/8/1LE, then come back and ask for some more specific opinions |

Yea I figured, the problem I have right now is I would like to test them both. SS vs LS/LT as I dont think any dealers have 1LE's around me but I don't want to lead on a salesman who is on commission or put a few miles on some future persons camaro(s). I would feel better once I have an actual idea and intent to purchase within the next few months.

It's all about how much money you want to spend... You'll be filling up more often if you get the SS, it's not just the extra $5 for premium.

Personally, I test drove both before deciding and they both felt the same to me in the conditions I drove them in. (its 95% city driving/lots of stop and go where i live and where i test drove). Lots of factors to consider.

Yeah i totally know what you mean, my car has that as well. Not sure about others, but getting a vmax ported tb / throttle response bolt-ons got rid of most/all of that for me though.

Get the big one.
I look at it like this. In the near future my wife is going to buy a Chevy Equinox. So does she want the V6 or the 4 banger. Just like a Camaro, let's say there's a heavy person in the passenger seat, maybe someone in the back and some stuff in the trunk, the temp outside is 95 and the A/C is blasting and your going up a hill. I want to be able to accelerate and feel it. So it's a V8 in the Camaro and a V6 in the Equinox. Gotta have the big engine. If you have the funds, get the big power.

Installed CAI and TB and what a huge difference! That is enough speed for me as well with NY stop and go traffic although it is always fun to punch it when I get on 495.

I'm going from a 2011 Ford Fiesta to a 2013 Camaro V6. The incentives are just to good to pass up.
The V6 is powerful enough for me. I test drove one and it flew! It's going to be awesome! |
