I got 2 Keys and the white lube is Lithium grease which is used in tumblers on locks and ignitions to keep them lubed and moisture out. I know for a fact..replacement keys are not cheap and if you manage to find blanks online you still have to pay to have them cut and the fob programmed to work with your car. Worse part is...if you lose bolth you will have to get the whole tumbler taken out and either a new one programmed to work with the computer or coded with a identification number usually located on the tumbler housing(if they are still doing it that way) and then cut using that number through a car dealer. The process can take up to a few days so be careful with where you leave your keys. To make things easier..do yourself a favor..open your key up by pressing the switchblade button. Under your key is a series of numbers on the fob...copy everything down..even the FCC number so if you do in fact lose your keys you have at least something to make the process easier and they just might not have to tear your ignition up

Does anyone know if the Key&fob are waterproof? Needed for swimming and what not. When you don't want to pay 5 bucks for waterpark locker etc. I got spoiled on my exploder with the keypad entry.

Keys are a thing of the past. More and more companies are going to push button. Corvettes start key fob is awesome imo.

Can you get just a key cut so it will open the door but not start the car? I wear a key around my neck when I run because I don't like hiding it under the car but this remote is too big to be comfortable.

They are laser cut as stated before. When you get the car, there will be a little black plastic band that looks like a huge wire tie with a barcode on it.

If you lose both keys or want another one, this is required to cut another one.

Make sure you get this from your dealer.

Yes, GM cuts the key and sends it. The machine to cut them is cost prohibitive so practically no dealers have it. I saw it myself on the screen that the pre-cut key was in the $50 ballpark, unless it wasn't the correct part but it definitely looked like it.

You can get a key without the fob and it's much less expensive. You just have to actually insert the key instead of pushing a button.

No you can't and no you can't. You might be able to get one from some third party but not from GM. Camaro doesn't have push button start.
