The simple way to 500hp?

With my 2SS/RS on the horizon, I'm finding myself wondering what's the easiest way to get 75 or so more horse out of the LS3 and keep it simple. Shorty headers, CAI, and a performance tune will get at best 50 or so I'll bet. Leaving another 25 or so to go. Opinions? Dyno results? Buehler?

full headers with complete performance exhaust system , ECU reprograming ,and a performance air induction i think you will be very close to 500 horses

go w/ LT headers (instead of shorties), CAI, tune, axleback exhaust...and there's an aftermarket pulley that added 10hp (see link below). All that would probably be around +75hp (at the crank anyway).

pulley install...

The quickest and easiest way, if you know how to do it, is nitrous probably... You'd probably better make sure you know what you're doing

If you're going for RWHP horsepower, though, I don't think you're going to get there with bolt-ons, including rockers and an LSXR intake manifold. You're going to need a cam, IMHO, to get there.

There are a bunch of choices though. It depends on your needs and $$$

Most of the HP references on most forums that I am aware of use RWHP, not flywheel. It can be confusing at times unless you are specific. So, with that said you are looking for about 63 rwhp on a LS-3 SS. Most bone stock LS-3's do about 355 rwhp for openers. Good luck. Fine looking Mustang in the pic.

I shoud have specified that, I'm looking for 500 at the crank. With parasitic loss through the trans there's no way to get to 500 RWH without going into the engine. A 500 horse engine will suit me just fine. I'm happy with the 450 in my Mustang!

500 is good, but 600 is better! We just finished a heads/cam combo that will mail order tuning makes over 600hp & drives awesome! Look for pics & info to be posted next week. The best part is the heads cam will use your heads as exchange so your probably talking about 1500 bux or so for heads cam that will add 100hp....

Long tubes, X-pipe, CAI, 160 thermostat, FAST intake manifold, TB porting, and a Protune, and you will be nearly at your goals. It also depends on how your measuring your horsepower, we typically tell our clients rear wheel horsepower numbers you would expect to make on a chassis dyno, not brake horsepower numbers (many vendors use to over hype products)

That's find of the math that manufacturers like you to follow but it's far from accurate. Most of the headers, intake & tune cars make 415rwhp. Baselines are typically about 365 or so. I think 50rwhp is pretty much what you'd expect to see from those mods honestly. 50hp from a few easy mods is awesome though!!

Like others, I think the easiest and cheapest way to get there is by squirt. But looking at your stang, my guess is you don't cheat like that. It's all about how deep the pockets are? I too don't play with replacing pulley's to achieve a negligible gain. Although I will,"stack" bolt on's at the intake side. Like a vara intake. Porting the intake/throttle body and adding a spacer. I've already achieved 32RWH (410RWHP) from LT's with cats and an axle back exhaust. And a good safe tune alone. Waiting for the intake parts to add them. The dyno after all this is said and done is likely to end up with the OE HP numbers from GM. At the wheels, not the crank. Seat of the pants should bring it close to my EX 07 GT500.
Hey Ringo, what does that shaker badge read on the stang? (nice car)
