From the "Insider" of the Blue Oval

This info is from the *Insider* who posts on the Mustang boards. His information is always quite accurate. Just some info for those of you bow tie wearers that keeps up with the blue oval from time to time.

* 3.7L V6 to be rated at 315 horsepower: Same as 2010 GT; 15 hp more than Camaro V6
* No immediate plans for EcoBoost V6 Mustang due to small horsepower gap between EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 (365 vs 400)
* 2011 Mustang GT to be rated at 400 horsepower, will get increase in 2012
* 2011 Mustang GT to get 6-speed transmission and variable valve timing
* 2011 Mustang GT Track Pack to include Brembo brakes
* 2011 Mustang GT 5.0L V8, 6-speed, track pack, Brembo brakes ran even with 414-hp BMW M3, which is 200 lbs lighter, at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan
* 2011 Shelby GT500 to get Aluminum Block
* Next special edition: 2012 Boss

2009 M3 = 3704lbs
So the 2011 5.0 = 3900 lbs ?

If their V6 makes 315 with more than 275 ft. lbs. and weighs pretty close to what they do now I'll buy one

Have to say 2010 owners should have seen this coming. If I was going to buy a Mustang I would not get one now...but for some that does not matter. Same thing happen in 98 when the Stang went to PI heads in for 99.

Makes sense why the body update and int/handling update came. They needed something to help sell the 2010, and now they will go with clincher update. Also have to look at the timing of the ecoBoost Sho, Flex, and MK. Now that they have hit the lots it clears the way for the sales of the 5.0 Stangs.

thanks, I file this under "who cares". I really don't care how fast the mustang is...the Camaro looks better.

but I think all this is good news...means that chevy will need to up the anty at some point...the pony car wars are back.
