Camaro 2010 V6 performance, Automatic Vs. Manual
I was wondering what the performance difference between the automatic and standard are with the V6? I test drove an automatic and found it disappointing off the line. My question is how much better is the manual off the line?
Thanks |

With the SS the HP goes from 426 to 409. If the V6 is comparable which I have yet to find a set number to, then you'd be well below 300. V6's in general for a Camaro are lacking (this coming from a V6 owner... but proud to have it as my daily driver). But to hamper that even more you might as well not even buy it. Hehe.

How many V6's out there can boast 304 HP? My old V6 Alero (don't laugh) was no slouch and it had around 185 HP. Up until Chev forced Ford to up their game for the 2011 Mustangs, their V6's only had about 215 HP. I think the V6 Camaro rips. |

Lacking, as in compared to the V8. But as I've said... for everything it has and what I'm using it for... I couldn't be happier.

Well, I would hope the V6 is lacking compared to the V8!
Otherwise SS owners would have a legitimate beef for paying an extra 16K (in Canada anyway) for two extra cylinders that don't do anything! |

But yeah, I agree what ya on your second point....still an awesome car. I'm touchy enogh about what happens to my LS, I can only imagine how paranoid I'd be if I owned an SS as my daily driver. I'd be a wreck!

The manual WILL get sideways easily, and WILL light 'em up from a dead start, and give a nice bark hitting second. Done it many times...

I like the way mine performs it feels more like a sports car, you feel like your more involved with the driving and handling of the car. also has a different sound comming from the exhaust system. the synergy green manual 6 is even more rare then the car itself.

I love the fact that with the manual I have so much more control than my past auto's and current work car. It definitely does feel more like a sports/muscle car than a daily driver.

So, concensus is, the manual is much more a performer with the V6? I could not get the tires spinning with the automatic. There was a lag when you nailed if off the line. It took a second or two before the RPM really took off.

I will add in my automatic, my tires spin just fine, and so far my top speed is 110 and it had plenty left felt like 80 in most other cars.
