For the Mile...
I know this is old, but the Camaro SS and GT5.0 and GT500 (2012 and earlier) are speed limited by their tune to 155 and they will all hit it in the mile. I've seen an SS with the limiter removed from the tune with drag radials hit 162/3. I've seen GT500 (2012 & earlier with the limiter removed hit up to 165 in the mile, the 2013/2015 GT500s will hit in the 170-17 range. 5.0's with the limiter removed will probably not hit 160. This is all for mild bolt on equipment, once you start going force induction and/or nitrous the sky's the limit.

Mustang 5.0's edge out the Camaro SS in quarter mile and half mile races. This is mostly due to the fact that they weigh less than the Camaro and have good gearing.

But once you start modding then all bets are off.

Guess I should have been a little more clear. I was looking for cars built for half and one events.

Well then...
My 4.6L based mustang GT was able to do 157 in the mile with just a supercharger added, adding some bolt-ons to that (throttle body , shorty headers and 6-speed transmission got it to 162 in the mile. Built-engine with turbos @ about 15psi got me to 180 in the mile, turning up the boost to 25psi on race on MS109 unleaded got me to 198. 25.5PSI with the same gas melted through the piston ( I was greedy and wanted a 200+ MPH number). Engine has been rebuilt and making some tweaks as well as run C16 fuel to consistently top 200 in the mile.

The "Big Red Camaro" a '69 based outlaw racer has done 232MPH in the mile, I think it was a 4g Camaro beat a 'stock' Bugatti Veyron at 204/202 at mojave a few years back. The fastest mile mustang I've found verifiable info on was just over 220, I've heard rumors that a Camaro (4g?) did somewhere around 240 in the mile.
At the top end, Aero play's a huge roll, that's probably why the 4th gen camaros seem to do so well, and why it's lambos and Ford GTs that dominate 250MPH+ area.

I would love to see someone adapt a promod drag car for the mile, you know, cars that are already doing 230-240 in the 1/4-mile.
