Steal or not?

It apparently has a knocking rod.... my friend is a mechanic and wants to do all the work for free. He is looking up prices of new engines and such.... but it seems to be in great condition for a few hundred bucks... |

You could have your friend put a small block in it. $700-o.b.o. sounds like a decent price, but as the add says that picture is a little dated. A 2.8 ltr v-6 should be cheap also but finding one with low miles may pose a problem. I say if your friend can find a good engine go for it. Then you can lock your new Camaro up somewhere and people can try to break into your old one instead.

tht looks like a good deal if your going to get a dif engine in there. Its prolly so cheap because its not running well, if at all, and most ppl arent going to swap the engine. i got mine for 550, and the reason it was so low was the body isnt great on it. but it runs great. without a good engine, itll bring the price way down. i say go for it. and is that amherst wisconsin or masechusets? or some other random place lol

please tell me this car is in your driveway NOW. Looks like it is rust free and in decent shape. Was a 2.8 car so it is not all torn up. Slap a 3.8 liter in there and make a screamer out of it - maybe a turbo swap from a wrecked Grand National???
I would love to find one that clean just to fix up and drive for that little bit of money. The ones around here are rusty and rough at that price. |
