My cam is custom ground for my application... Graham Behan of Lingenfelter and Corey my builder collaborated on it... TT 429 CI, relatively high rpm's...

All the above mentioned cams will work just fine but I really like doing custom grinds if the customer will allow it. Isn't a money thing from a business standpoint but it provides the best gains per the combo and goals of the customer. We use Ed curtis for all of our custom grinds and his name easily speaks for itself.

I know a custom grind will always make more power but are we talking 5hp or 50 and at the expense of valvetrain life?

It depends on the setup, and how much more aggressive the cam grind is. I for one couldn't get the same characteristics from an off the shelf cam, does that mean that my cam is much more powerful than an off the shelf? No, but it suited my car better. Again, Valvetrain life can be better with a custom grind, just as an off the shelf cam can be hard on springs too.

If you want that sound, get used to doing valve springs. Anything with high lift and a lope at idle will be harder on springs.

The ecs and night fury have both made 800+rwhp on stock blocks so i guess cant go wrong with either.

Don't just look at the peak numbers when picking a cam... Everything you just said about "don't want it to be hard on the springs" is exactly opposite of choosing a cam solely based on power.

Well how often do springs need to be changed. Obviously there are a ton of variables but i dont know

Depends in the cam, I expect to change mine often, maybe after every other racing season.
