question about stabilitrac
Hey guys,
So each time I have been turning on my car, it shows me a message that I need to service my stabilitac. Has anyone else got this? Is this just an occasional service that needs to be performed? Thanks guys.

Mine doesn't do that. They only time I've seen that, is when I started my car up and ran it through the gears, on jack stands, after I'd changed my transmission fluid. The message went away as soon as I drove my car and I haven't seen it since. I'd say you've got a problem. You probably need to have a dealer have a look at it.

Yeah, take it to the dealer; that isn't normal.

Service StabiliTrak This message displays if there is a problem with the StabiliTrak® system. If this message appears, try to reset the system. Stop; turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition; open and close the driver door and wait for at least one minute. During this time you should notice the lights on the cluster turn off. After a minute has passed start the engine again. If this message still comes on, it means there is a problem. See your dealer/retailer for service. The vehicle is safe to drive, however, you do not have the benefit of StabiliTrak, so reduce your speed and drive accordingly. Brandon Chevrolet Customer Service

Take it to the dealer. My silver one have this happened to it. Also sometimes when driving too. It might be a painful process like how it was for me. 7 or 8 times to the dealers.

Had this issue on the wife's Trailblazer. It turned out to be the sensor that tells the computer the position of the steering wheel. Nothing you can do but take it in, could be any part of the system.

It only comes on for about 2 seconds and then it disappears. It never stays on for longer than that and it only happens about once a day. Any suggestions? I dont know if the dealer will be able to fix it if it only shows a couple times a day.

It could be most anything in the system, and it isn't readily possible to diagnose over the Internet.
You'll be fine with it inop as long as you don't drive like an idiot. In anything resembling sane, reasonably careful normal driving you don't even get close to activating it anyway. Norm |
