How many of you have paint chips on the hood? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I am starting wonder about this whole clear bra thing. I have paint chips on the top of the fascia of the car, but not on the hood.

Is that part of the car more prevalent to chipped paint than the hood?

The front fender, the gills in front of the rear wheels will really catch the rocks. I had the Venture Shield applied on the front bumper, headlights, fog lights, 18" up on the hood and the same on the front fenders, the rocker panels, in front of and behind the rear wheels and the door handle cups. You may get some negative comments like " Why would anyone pay $$ for stick on plastic". I have a Summit White SS and had a very small chip on the front bumper and that's all I saw when I looked at the car. The black under the paint really pops out. Should be the first "mod" on any car that is driven on a routine basis or in an area with a lot of construction like San Antonio and vicinity.

Got it done most of the car except rear gills area which is hard to make it look right. Best investment ever.

No chips for me, added Venturashield with 70 miles on it. Full front, both front quarter panals, full hood, A-pillars, side mirrors, 5" strip across the top, topped off with a little headlight armor. Bring it on Mr. Rock!

Wish I would have spent the $$ on the shields ;(
When I have to get the entire front & sides painted, I'll put it on then.
Chips on the entire front, over the hood, lower sides, & rear panels...not even 5000 miles on her :(

This might be your driving style. Are you driving too close to the rear of the car in front of you ?

I got a chip on the hood the first day I got it, driving it home from the dealer. No other chips yet. I was looking into the VentureShield Clear Protective Film, but the nearest dealer to me quoted $1500 for the front facsia, quarter panels and full hood. A bit steep in price for me ATM, so I am forced to wait.

I just got 3M put on, dealer said its the best at the moment. Front bumper 20in of hood lights mirrors, behind rear wheels and the rocker panels. for 650. Looks good have a few spots they need to fix though.

I'm getting 3M stone guard on the front portion of the hood (where the hood and front fascia meet), the mirrors, and the area where the side gills are. This area is the worst, like someone sandblasting it. A certified installer is doing it for me for $250.

I do not have any chips on the hood (yet)
