I'm pretty sure the shifter on the automatic is electronic. There is no mechanical linkage I am aware of. Shifting it into reverse or park at speed would do nothing at all UNTIL you came to a complete stop (or close to it). Just like switching between D and M while moving doesn't actually do anything other than tell the computer to use a different shift program. In neutral (and park) the computer will not allow you to rev the engine over 4k no matter how hard you try. Obviously I would still not recommend testing any of this.

Sorry to be this way, but the acronym used in this thread is THE most offensive term to the women that I know including Mrs. Number 3.

I'd kindly ask that this thread get that bit cleaned up. Yes OFFENSIVE.

That being said, OP I think your trans is going to be ok. Bad thing to do, but a car going 50 can't go into park.

You know, I used to think so until I heard another woman saying that about another one, and I didn't even know her. It also is my understanding the worst word you can say in Britain. Even worse than the F word.

But it does give me a change to link to this URL.

http://tiny.cc/aiwi1 Funny but NSFW due to language.

Which by the way, I turned it into tiny URL as not to type it.

In Australia, the 'C' word is not as taboo as in the US. It is essentially used like the 'S' word here. However, I agree - in the US.. it should not be posted as it has been (even if true)

I wouldn't worry at all. I remember my friend and I got bored on my old car and wanted to see what would happen if you put the car into park while flooring it past 60 mph. All that happened was the computer shut the car off, no damage at all. That was a 2002, I'm sure these 2010s have similar if not more advanced safety measures.
