How is that, please enlighten me. If the answer is that I am cheap, you are correct.

Sell it and buy something properly setup. There will be no cheap way to fix it, and throwing more money at it won't ever get it to where you want it. Put it on ebay, sell it to someone who will be happy with 500rwhp, and then buy a nice turbo kit.

That may be an option in the future, if I find no other options. I just hate to break the budget and go backwards. Unless PCM can find a cheap option I guess I will have to live with what I got for now.

You were already told. The only way to get the BP down without spending the money for another turbo and additional work is to turn down the boost. Drop it to 5psi and live with it for now and at that level the turbo should last and you shouldn't damage anything. Save money and either modify what you have or scrap it and go another route....lesson learned although it was the hard way sometimes ....well a lot of the times that is what happens.

Yup. U hit it. To give you an idea, my GN at 30psi had almost the exact same pressure in the exhaust mani. 6176 turbonetics turbo...76mm hot side with a .63 AR for spooling. That was a 3" single shot down pipe and exhaust on 3.8 with stock heads.
The .82 AR isn't going to help much. A single turbo is still a good choice. But IMO, 76mm. And with a turbo that big you want the exhaust wheel that size minimum and never neck down. So 3" to a dual 3" catback would be fine. Even 3" to a dual 2.5" catback would be ok. You have to use some type of straight through no back pressure muffler. It would be worth your time calling precision turbo and seeing by chance if Patrick still works there. If not get one of the other techs and tell them what your are turbocharging and what your goals are. They don't have a kit, but they will tell you proper snail size.

if its got that much back pressure then there should be room to grow. back pressure is just a measurement of restiction.

Thanks guys. My build budget will not hold up with the extra expense of changing the turbo. Looks like I will live with what I got until after Camarofest, then I will change to the biggest turbo that I can fit in that space safely.

you can probably spec a custom cam for a backpressured system, not sure HOW much this could help but I know it does.

How much do you have to spend then? You can get the correct turbo for $1300 or so. You can sell yours for $600-700. So you need to invest $600-700 to get it fixed. That isn't bad at all.

I can get you a comp pretty cheap party when you get ready. A ct43 76/79 would be great and would be very similar in size about an inch bigger. I thought these kits came with a ct43 but when I look back at the hps sale thread they are ct4's which is even smaller than I thought.
