Painted rear diffuser problems
I have my car in the body shop to get the rear bumper painted so, I decided to have them paint the rear diffuser. Well, the shop said that they are having a problem with the paint cracking when trying to put it back together even though they are using the same flex additive paint as the bumper. So, my question to others that have done this mod, did any of you run into this and how did you fix it?

Either they didnt sand the part before they primed/painted it, they didnt prime it, or the primer wasnt sanded good enough. I deal with painting plastics of all kinds every day and have never had a problem.

I believe I can understand the OP's point. The entire rear bumper cover does take some healthy slamming and pounding on to get it snapped back in place. I don't think he's specifically talking the GFX part. I believe we are talking adhesion of the new paint to the old which can be difficult

I'm in the same boat. My GFX is coming loose and my bumper cover does not match well. I plan to glue the GFX on, seam fill the edges and repaint the whole thing

Man that looks awesome! So what did the body shop do to keep it from cracking?

They had quite a bit of trouble with it cracking where the ribs meet the smooth sections but, they kept working at. I was told that those areas need more sanding and less primer.
