CA Legal Cold Air Intake
Who makes the best Cold Air Intake that has a CARB# for CA? ADM is not CA legal. RotoFab is not CA legal. Any suggestions?

I haven't looked for a CARB# yet, but maybe BBK? They've got a new facility in Temecula, CA. Us SoCal guys are having a meet there this Saturday. I was most likely gonna get mine then, I'll double check for you if you can't find the info before then.

Thanks. So far most are coming back as not legal in CA. And while I wont have an issue for 5 years, having to take apart your upgrades and go back to stock every time you need to pass smog is a real pain.

I'm not totally useless..

While normally I would agree with you , this mod is literally a 10-15 min thing to do and undo and redo... just sayin....

You know - I'm going to step back from my normal CARB-worrying self and say this is one of the very few areas I'd be worried about. Now, please take this with a grain of salt, but I've been to a State of California Smog Ref' TWICE, with my SLP lid ('02 Z28) and had it smogged a time after that and it was never questioned. There were no identifying marks except the "SLP" colored/molded onto the top of the lid. I know that K&N goes out of their way for CARB-certification and while I know there are a few more, I can't remember them. It's, obviously, the safest way to go (and the one way I'd officially say to go), but off the record, I'd say just hang onto the OEM airbox and don't hack it up in the event it is necessary in the future. It seems pretty clear to me that the OEM intake system presents restrictions and replacing it is for the better but I'm sure CARB-legal parts will cost more :(
At this point, I'd suggest looking at K&N and maybe Air Raid; I can't remember for sure, but that's where I'd start.

I've got a Roto-Fab and plan on swapping back to stock for the smog in 5 years. Pretty easy swap so it's not a big deal.

Go ahead and get whatever you want.
It will only take you 30 minutes to do the double swap in five and every two there after. Not worth the worry. When I had my roto-fab, I think I swapped it 4 or 5 times for lessor reasons.

I've said it before, but I want to make it clear that the potential for a large fine, depending on the discretion of the officer, is there. I've gotten fines exceeding $250s for CARB-illegal headers; I don't see how any other non-CARB-compliant parts would cost less.
Just so you know.

I've posted this before, but the intake I used to have on my '01 Tacoma did not have a CARB sticker on it and it was never questioned when it came time to get it smogged.

i completely agree...i was gonna go with the Cold Air Inductions unit, but found out it wasn't CA legal and didn't want to hassle swapping them for smog.
