FE3 to FE4 suspension
So what is all needed for this conversion? List of parts would be helpfull. Not asking which is best, but what parts are needed for the upgrade.

Rear Lower Control arms, rear sway bar with updated sway bar links.
If going 1LE, new struts, front sway bar and sway bar links. I did exactly that -- you can review my build to see: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=385577 -Don |

One question I have is on the FE3 suspension is mounted to the inside of the strut where as on the FE4 it is mounted on the outside. Is there some sort of modification that needs to be done? Or does the new struts take care of all that? I might be confusing myself...which happens more times than not.
I am considering BMR, ZL1 or 1LE. I should also note this is not for autocross or drag racing. Strictly a summer/weekend/car show vehicle. I am eventually adding a blower so I want to make sure that all that power is getting put to the ground.

Your fe3 struts are fine. Only thing needed is in the second post so 3 parts is all that is needed

The FE4 rear Lower Control arm takes care of the mounting location for the sway bar. The front sway bar take a larger sway bar link so if you don't upgrade the strut, you have to drill a 12MM hole in the sway bar link mount on the strut to take the larger front sway bar link. Really simple and not a big deal. I did that first, then got the 1LE upgraded struts/shocks...
I'd do BMR sways -- for the same reasons you mentioned. Great price and adjustable. Check out my build thread and you'll have an idea... Also, contact Tyler from JDP -- he can really help you -- he did for me and I love my setup. Contact him and let him know what you want to do. You can do things in stages if finances require it (I did). -Don |

hammdo, how much the 1le struts/shocks run? Would I have to get new ones for the rear too?

Tyler can get you a price -- they come from the dealer and their prices change depending on who get them -- If you're really going to do the 1LE update, then yes, you'd want the front and backs -- they make a huge difference in the performance ride (this is not a cady ride ;o)...
I'd expect between 650 and 800 for the Struts, Shocks, shock caps -- I think that's what they run but like I said, check with Tyler for JDP... -Don |

How drastic is the improvement?
Hello all,
I am in the middle of swapping out the FE3 rear bar with a BMR 1.25" FE4 rear bar. I have ordered the FE4 links from my local Chevy dealer, so that will not be an issue. Just curious as to how significant the improvement will be? For the record, I already have BMR's rear trailing arms, toe rods, subframe connectors, and tunnel brace on my convertible. Thanks in advance for the replies! Regards, Matt

So if you are moving from FE3 to FE4 you should feel a noticeable change just taking corners on the street.

I already have the correct LCA's as I have a 2014 Model, so relocating the end links should be a slam dunk. Thanks!

Well you have me confused. 2012 and up SS models came with the FE4 suspension. How is it you think you have any FE3 components on a 2014? Did you replace your stock sway with an aftermarket FE3 type?
