Removal of parts

Can you remove the black piece that is a safety for the exhaust and hold up the heat shield? My exhaust rattles against it bad. I have already added 4 spacers to each bolt??????

I have no idea, but I have to tell you how gorgeously clean you've kept the underside of your car.

I took it off of my SS when I had the SLP system on. I didn't see any adverse effects, but a traded the car in a few months later.

Personally I would adjust your no weeds install as that is why they are on that to begin with.

I think also its better to correct the positions of the exhaust. You have changed the angle when you have installed the noweeds. I am sure you can put it to the correct angle.

That is not a safety plate. It is a cross member that increases the rigidity of the body. Remove it at the risk of increased body twist.

If you aren't road racing, take it off. That little turd of a bracket would be a minimal difference in rigidity. I feel very little difference when a larger item like the strut tower bar is removed so this thing would be history if I had an exhaust rattle.

I would wrap it in heat resistant material and leave it. Sub frame connectors are important. MY 67 convertible had NONE and it was very flexy.

Some vendors make a crossmember that allows more clearance. Maybe try BMR?

I seem to recall somebody making aftermarket crossmembers for the SS Camaro convertibles to provide room for exhaust, but I don't remember who it was (it was made out of tubing), nor do I know it they make one for the ZL1 convertible as well.

Something to look for??

Elite engineering makes a tunnel brace for the Camaro. I have 1 on my SS and it clears a 3 in x-pipe just fine. Check it out as it might be what you need. Sorry I don't have an installed picture.

I'd readjust your exhaust and tighten the piss out of the clamps

Why not loosen your bolts in the exhaust and readjust to clear your brace?

Seems better to do that then start removing OEM parts on a 580 hp car....
