Beware guys. Apparently Bossier city needs money and they are cracking down on window tint, of all things. Anyway it's a $140 ticket.

according to: http://www.legis.state.la.us/lss/lss.asp?doc=88294
A sun screening device when used in conjunction with automotive safety glazing materials on the front side window, with a light transmission of at least 40%, all tolerances included, side window behind the driver with a light transmission of at least 25%, all tolerances included, and rearmost windows with a light transmission of at least 12%, all tolerances included. All sun screening devices shall not have a luminous reflectance of more than 20%. (2) A transparent material, not red or amber in color, affixed to the topmost portion of the windshield not to extend more than five inches down from the top. Rule of thumb on beating it court if you are close to the proper percentage... If the light transmission test is done in the shade or under and awning or tree (anything that prevents direct sun) is thrown out in court. an over cast or extremely cloudy day, and dirty windows, can obscure a test also. You can also contest the tint meter used if it is not properly calibrated as required by state law. EX: Radar guns are supposed to be calibrated daily and again after each speeding ticket that is written.
