California Tax increase and DMV fees raised
Most of us californians know that Ca. finally passed a budget that will raise our taxes 1%. What I found out this morning is that the DMV registration fee increase starts on May 19th! Present rate is .65% of vehicle value. After may 19th it goes to 1.15% of vehiclae valaue. That's a substantial increase, considering a price tag of $37K. I'm #2 on my dealers allocation list. I have not heard from them as of yet. I was told 2 weeks ago, that I may be getting that phone call last thursday, but didn't. More than likely #1 on the list, also a 2SS was "pulled" and I should hear from them this thursday, with the news that my 2SS/RS ABM w/White Rally stripes/ gray leather int/ sunroof/ 6 spd man will be "pulled"
That brings me to the purpose of this post....If my Camaro arrives before 5-19, I can avoid almost doubling the vehicle registration fee! Anyone else riding the bubble on this? I probably have a 50-50 chance of getting my Camaro before 5-19. The Ca. sales tax will have been raised already, so I am gonna pay the extra 1% sales tax already. I believe that in Fresno Ca, the sales tax is now up to 8.97% Of course the sales tax will be a tax deduction on next years Fedaral tax 1040. So, now, not only am I anxious to receive my new Camaro, but I have to play beat the clock to escape the DMV fee increase! |

Probably an example of why people and businesses are leaving California in droves....get out while you can ....

I was born and raised in CA. I left in 1996 and haven't been back since. Still have a lot of friends there that haven't been lucky enough to escape.
Hope you get your car before the rates change. |
