Oiled gives you slightly better performance, and you clean it less often. However, cleaning/re-oiling said filter is a PITA, and risky. (Under-oil, and the filter loses effectiveness. Over-oiling can cause oil buildup in your manifold, or worse)
Dry filters are slightly less efficient and need to be cleaned more frequently, but cleaning a dry filter is very simple, and basically idiot-proof. I have an oiled setup now, for the right price I'd happily switch to dry.

Could you oil the dry filter? I only have experience on oiled set ups.

Wouldn't want to oil a dry type filter. it's not necessary for any reason, I suppose you could do it but then your restricting the filter even more. Plus the material on a dry filter is probably not designed to have cleaners sprayed on it
