Grease can be cleaned with any general purpose cleaner...

I love using Simple Green because it's a very mild cleaner but does an amazing job. Spray it on and let it sit and bust loose all the grease and dirt and then take a brush to it and then I ususally start the motor up and take a hose to it and wash it all off then take an air hose and blow the excess off.

I make sure my engine is cool then I cover my air filter with a plastic bag and then just blast out the entire engine bay with water. Then I hit all with 50/50 Adam's All Purpose Cleaner and distilled water and let it sit there for about 5 mins. Then I take a brush and scrub it all down. Then rinse it all off. Then turn on the car and let it idle for about 15 mins. Then any exess I blast out with my master blaster and then wipe down any existing water with towels and then touch it all up with Adam's VRT and Adam's in and out spray.

That's the fun way to do it.

Engine bay looks sweet.

As needed... when it looks dirty and just a wipe down with a towel and some waterless wash or detail spray won't do the job its time to do a full cleaning.

Hey Guys, what would be the areas to protect (against water) with plastic bags in a stock engine?

Thanks for your help

You can cover your alternator, not required, but couldn't hurt. Otherwise theres nothing to worry about on a stock engine. The biggest concern on any engine detail are open/exposed filter elements if it has them. Stock you have nothing like that to worry about.
