Black car / First post

Sup guys, new member, first post here. I just placed my order for a black 2SS RS and could use some pointers. For those with black Camaros or black cars in generals, I would love some pointers on giving my baby some TLC and keeping it as clean as possible, as much as possible. If any of you could supply me with a routine, products, schedule, and anything in between (in full detail If possible ) I would highly appreciate it.

Welcome aboard! Glad to see you picked the perfect color!

As for keeping her looking the way she should, if you're not good with a high speed buffer, find yourself a good detailer. If you've owned black vehicles before, you know, if you haven't, you will. Here in San Diego, there's not much dust and hardly any bugs so I can go 2 weeks between washes (usually don't though).

Look around in the detailing threads for anything you need to know about keeping her looking like the sexy bitch she is!

As a professional detailer with 20+ years exp. and an owner of a 2011 black camaro I can give you lots of pointers but so many it could be a long list. i can tell you black looks the best when it is spotless. keeping it that way is work, lots of it.
my advise to you is
1 buy a microfiber wash mitt from walmart the big fuzzy blue or green ones.
2 i like to use the zip wax car wash they sell there too
3 the wax applicator pads which are blue and round get some of those too

never let bugs stay on the car for any length of time

if you can spring for it get a clear bra immediately and make them do it to your liking as it is the hardest color to install one on. this will pretty much elliminate stone chips. I left it only on the fascia as opposed to going up half way on the fenders and hood and you can hardly even notice it on the car, my only regret was to wait to get it.

find a good polymer wax that goes on easy and comes off easy, there are many out there, personally i love ardex viper wax but you have to get it from a detail supply guy. you can find it but it isnt as easy as going to the store.

i was at a car show and a guy there was selling a product called the perfect wax which looked pretty impressive but i already have a full gallon of viper and it is as good as anything i have tried.

good luck and feel free to pm me if you have questions

Don't drive it and wash it once a day, it will stay clean.

Don't let the dealer wash it. Don't let the dealer touch it.

1-I highly recommend a clear bra installation to protect the paint against rock chips. This is the first mod I did on mine. The paint is very thin and chip easily on the Camaro so you'll need all the protection you can get.

2-Watch Junkman's video to educate yourself on how to properly wash & detail your car. (Must do if you want to avoid scratches & swirl marks)

3-Prepare to invest in some premium detailing products.

4-Enjoy your shiny black beauty.

Congrats!! and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Congrats on the ride. Dont buy the cheap microfiber towels from walmart, they are scratchy - made in china. Spend a little money and get worthy products and you won't be sorry. I bought from Adam's and love their products. Like stated above, look in the cosmetic maintenance section, specifically, Junkman's posts. He know clean!
