Whats the best mode to be in??
So i am planning on going to the track for the first time in a week or so, and lately i have been practicing my starts. It seems like everyone says to turn off everything(hold for 7 seconds). I have tried every mode a couple of times and it feel like my car is more responsive in competitive mode. The only thing i did notice is it is very easy to spin the tires to start of with in competitive mode... am i doing something wrong? or should i be in competitive mode?

Are you racing 1/4 mile? Or is this a road course event?
In either case, for a good launch, you want to turn off traction control and stability control. The car will try to intervene and limit wheelspin, but at the demise of performance. As you practice, you will develop your skill as a driver to execute good launches--estimating how much power you can put down without spinning the wheels too much. |

I went through this to. What I do is hit the TC button once and place the shifter into “M”. I do not heat the tires I just spin them enough to clean them off. Then I stage the car. I do not pre-load the car I just use the brake to keep the car from rolling. When the last yellow comes on, I hit the gas as if I wanted to move off from a traffic light fast but not on the floor. Then when the car is rolling I put the pedal to the floor. Let the transmission shift on its own. I run 13.90’s all day long like this.

I like to start in competitive mode. I feel like it has the most throttle response and just a better overall drive.

Shouldn't the auto be faster than 13.9 stock? The new mustang V6 runs 13.7 stock.

A troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response. If your going to "Troll" you should at least understand this definition. I posted my response as an "emotional wtf" to you as your response is or was in no way helpful to the op. You call it trolling; I call it learning. You could use less of the first and more of the latter. |

Gotcha, I always forget that there are environmental conditions that greatly affect performance.

My apologies to the op. He is asking for an emotional response which again is a desperate plea only fit for "The Troll".
