Ugh, my 2009 G8 (which is a tad cheaper than the C5) was ~$500.00 to renew for 2010. I think it was only ~300. when I bought the car...
Thanks Arnie.

edit: oh yea... CAR GIRLS RULE!

sorry for sounding lame, but I am pretty new to the whole 'car buying' scene.

so I appreciate the info.
Why not use the California DMV online registration fee calculator?

I don;t consider it cheating. In fact I think they are cheating us since they charge sales tax on the total BOS price every time it gets sold. So if you sell me your car I would pay, then if I sold it back to you or someone else they pay again and it goes on for ever. If the car gets sold enough times the DMV would have collected more that what the cars original cost was.

If you buy from a private party don't go to cheap on the BOS price or it might throw some red flags though.

BTW, I think on a leased vehicle you only pay for what you used it so to speak not on the total. So if you lease a 50K Mercedes you just pay for the difference between MSRP and the residual value from when you turn it back in.

It depends on the cost of the car. I paid $497.00 last May. I have not yet received 2011's renewal yet. Will keep you posted.

Those numbers right there are why I keep registering my car out of state. $75 in Washington.

If you're a "female" you have to pay more for a car registration in CA. That's just the way it is, sorry! Something to do with more accidents; I think it's called a bad driver fee.

I paid 341 when I bought the car.

I just got renewal, and for custom plate and all the fees, etc. It's like 491.

That's such a load of BS! I am the best driver in my whole family.

Ugh, thanks CA.

I mean, I drive here, I know 90% of the chicks driving around are a danger to any vehicles around them, (which is very aggravating), especially since they have to insist on driving the SUV's as their soccer-mom cars, or drive minivans and go 90 mph + at all times on the fwy. good job with that precious cargo ladies. tsk.

anywhoo, ha, it just irks me a bit that that's how things are around here.

All the car girls I know are great drivers. grr.

I just think the DMV is a J-O-K-E.

Women for cell phones, guys for being "macho".

I think we're all bad drivers. Anyways, most of us (aside from gabbradock) are paying for the SS and registration seems to be based off total price of the car. Gabbradock's lucky and gets a discount as you will too because the car won't be nearly the price of the v8 with similar options.

Welcome to the forums Riddikulus. Nice S13 in your sig!
