PS3 controllers...wow, some bad luck
My first one...OK, I stepped on it. Not the controller's fault
My second one...yoke that holds a joystick axis kept falling off, rattling around. Fixed that three or four times but eventually even gluing it didn't permanently fix it Third one...just now...right joystick won't center any more, microswitch doesn't 'pop' either now. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

That is some bad luck. The only time I have ever broken a Ps3 controller is if I abused it like stepped on or throw it across the room lol but never from just playing games.

same here my buddy has a PS3 from launch 06 and the controller still works great even tho it does not have the rumble feature that was briefly taken out in early PS3 controllers.

Are they original sony?
Knock offs usually do that, still using the same controllers for a few years now and no problems

Yeah, all were Sony. Each of them also developed a 'ring' around the shaft of the joysticks too, and shed bits of plastic after about an hours' use, Pisses me off that I need to buy another...for the first time ever I'm going to get Best Buy's service plan on something

There are knockoffs sold under the Sony label on amazon and other sites that look totally legit. Chances are if ya pay less than $30, it's a knockoff

The new one feels different when you use it. All have been Sony, or at least the boxes all read Sony and they came from a big chain store, not online purchases..less than 30 bucks? I wish! More like 45+tax
The sticks feel different, the buttons feel different, the sticks haven't developed 'rings' in only an hour of use...what gives here??
