Is Recall on SS delaying shipment?

My 2SS was built 4/30/09, VIN 106861, and has been stuck at 4B00, bayed at factory since that date. Dealership called DBC 5/7 and was told vehicle still bayed for quality control. I wonder if the battery cable recall is cause for delay. Has anyone with a VIN number higher than mine that ordered a SS taken delivery or has received status higher than 4B00?

You are going to get some serious crap for whining about a car built on 4/30...Hope you aready for it...

But, there is still quality checks going even on higher VIN cars. Yours will probably sit for a week before it ships, but I would expect you to have yours in a week or so. The battery cable is being fixed on some at the factory and some by the dealers. I do not know how they decide which is which, but that is just my understanding, and I am nobody special.

Well....my #3952 is on a hold for the cable per the DBC today. So I guess yours is at the end of the line after mine and about ???? thousand others that have not yet been delivered yet.

4/30....Dude...patience...

But yeah, I'm sure they're still catching up on retro fits and what not. Not to mention I'm sure they had all timed them to trickle out, but now that a lot of them are ready to go at the same time some bottle necking is going to occur with rail yards and trucking companies.

His car built on 4/30 might very well get to him before most others depending on exactly when GM determined that the battery cable location was a hazard. There is a possibility that the battery cable problem was corrected at assembly on his. Its a minor problem to fix at assembly, and even after the car is built. But meanwhile GM is not going to ship cars that have any potential to be a fire hazard in an enclosed rail car. Can you imagine the lawsuits if one of these cars actually did catch fire in a railroad tunnel, inside a dealership in the middle of the night etc? Sure its doubtful...but GM cannot take that chance now that they are aware of the problem.

Looks like about 6000 cars are going to be on a quality hold wherever their current location is unless the battery cable is disconnected before and during shipping. This is a serious matter and the timing of it really sucks for GM and us buyers. And thats a lot of cars to fix on site at so many locations.

GM is also having problems w/ vendors and actually getting them to MAKE the replacement parts they need. So....if ya'll are going to yell at anyone, yell at the vendors too!

Yes, mostly all early V8's are held for the cable issue !! So my dealer said !

My car #3401 was made on the same day as the V6 for my dealer's car #3437, April 15. My dealer has had that car for 2 weeks. My dealer received the invoice for my car 12 days ago, and the car usually shows up with in 3 days of getting the invoice.

He also told me he has '2' SS's on the way and they had already recieved the parts to repair the battery cable issue.

So why send the parts to the dealer if they are going to fix them where they sit?

I have #891 sold and it's still sitting in Canada. These cars are in NO certain order on how they get the problems fixed. Dealers are only fixing these problems if the cars were already delivered. They are not cutting cars loose if they know they have a problem.. #891 was built before yours and it's still in Canada so people are going to be waiting a while.

To fix the ones that were shipped before they knew of the problem.

I was told that I got the new cable, thats why it took 4 weeks from 3400 to 3800 while most only take 7 - 10 days.
