Does anyone use a dash cam?
I splurged and bought a Papago dash cam last week. I didn't know if I'd like it or if it would be a waste of money. Since I've been using it, I think it's really cool. It has an amazing resolution and it's nice to know that you're recording everything during a drive. It also has motion detection, so if anyone messes with the car while I'm away, I get it on record. It cost me about a buck thirty and I think it was a good deal.
Anyone else use one?

Kicking myself... have purchased a dash cam, but did not yet have it installed when, last week, a jackwad changed lanes into me, making contact and doing damage. If my dash cam had been installed, this would have been a slam dunk regarding whose fault this is... as it is, now it's an argument of my word against his.
Learn from my mistake. Be like the Russians, and keep a dash cam rolling. |

Yup, have a dashcam from eBay for about $40 and wired it to be on all the time. Haven't needed it yet for accident, but nice to know its there.

I have one in the Camaro because I'm a 19 year old driving a fast car; cops like to see me get in trouble often they are out line. My Dash cam has gotten me out of 3 tickets now because how rude the cop was to me and the judge has let me off with a warning with no driving school.

Yep has caught a few close calls (cars pulling out in front of me, deer, etc). Well worth the $100

I'd love to see where y'all put them and how you brought wiring in for them.
I was just thinking I'd love to have one. It's hard to believe how aggressive people are getting in the time leading up to peak commute hours. I'd like to catch some of these ****ers on camera. |

What dash came incorporates well into the layout of the Camaro?

The one I bought clips onto the rear view mirror. It is out of the way and I don't even notice it when I am driving. It is the Papago Go Safe GS200.
It has a drop down viewing screen, so you can actually watch your videos in the car, if you want. If not, the screen slides up into the camera, out of the way. Uses a mini SD memory card to store the videos. It records in HD resolution, has a built in microphone, automatic saving of any video in the event of a crash, etc.. It's very cool. How are you guys hard wiring them? What are you tapping into to run the power?

Using a Blackvue that I hard wired into the overhead console. The Blackvue doesn't have a monitor but you can easily view via WiFi on your smartphone. It records to a micro SD card that you can load on to your PC.
It is like insurance; you hope to never need it but invaluable if you do.

Got a hard wire power kit with the connector for the dashcam and ran the wire through the headliner, down the pillar and wired to the fuse panel by drivers door. Will get a pic and post up later

I'd love to see some of the cameras and installs, as I will be getting one in the next couple weeks myself.
