Newbie at the track
Here are the results from my runs at Mo-Kan dragway today. I'd appreciate any analysis that can be offered. Due to the wheelspin I was encountering, I was too chicken to disable all the nanny electronics. How much of a difference would disabling everything make? I only tried a roll into it and punch it launch since I assumed that the stabilitrack would just clamp down on a brake torque launch.
The next mods lined up are wider wheels and tires (315's) and coilovers. None of these times are corrected, just raw data Thanks for any constructive criticism. If it matters at last dyno was 373hp 393tq on ADM's dyno. |

First off, good times for you mods and DA.
Looking at your 60ft times I will take it you have a manual tranny. The first advice would be get you some DR's so you can put the hammer down. While on the stock tires try rolling into the throttle a little faster to get your 60ft down. Lower the air in the rear tires and pump up the fronts to the max. The TC and Stabil will not bring your ET that much maybe a 10th. I just got back from a bracket racing event and my three runs were very consistent. 13.472, 13.460 & 13.441 so tomorrow I will make my dial-in 13.45 after making one run to check everything out. Have to work on my R/T though as I went -.064, .235 & .069.

My reaction times were hideous which is why I didn't add them to the chart. Car is an L99, btw, don't know if that makes things better or worse!

It's always GREAT seeing another ADM Racer!!! Good looking runs for a newbie...
Here is a couple of things that have helped me: 1. Are you rolling threw the water for your burnout? With street tires and even drag radials, you should go around the water and do a dry - short - burnout. 2. When leaving the starting line, you want to only give it as much throttle as you can WITHOUT spinning your tires and ease into WOT - In a fast kinda way - if that makes since. This is one of the hardest things to do, because your foot always wants to go strait to the floor...

Are you bracket racing? If so, keep doing what you're doing.
But if you want to improve your times, kill both TC and Stabilitrak and work from there. Since you say "brake torque" I'm assuming automatic. If so, rolling into it is your best option for traction and 60's until you get stickier tires. Good luck, nice report. Padre |

The lanes are very narrow at that strip, such that it's impossible to avoid hitting at least some of the water box. I'm sure that hurt as I couldn't get all the water off. And yes, I couldn't help planting the foot straight into the floor! I'll just have to be a little bit more controlled on the next trip.

Mokan
I was at Mokan the Sunday before with my 2010 Camaro bone stock on factory tires and my best passes were avoiding the water as much as possible and then doing a smokie burn out. Best 60' for that day was 1.93. With out getting the tires to smoke my best 60' was 2.09. Last year on a warmer track I had some 1.90s doing the smokie burnouts.

OK rjsmith, I have an L99 with the same dyno numbers as you and have no problem hooking 1.8's in the 60 ft. time. I do have BMR track arms and toe rods but here is what I do, I pull around the water box, back up to the box till my rear tires are in it, hold the brake and press the throttle down till the tires start spinning. I will hold that RPM while spinning for a couple seconds (1001, 1002) and let off the brake and back out of the throttle. By the way, I have stock tires. I then pull up to the line making sure that I am in "the grove" when I stage in. I hold the brake and load the convertor by running the RPM up to 1800-2000. On the LAST yellow light I let off the brake and mash the throttle at the same time. I don't spin and I run the 1.8's with an average time of 12.7 @ 110 MPH. This was done in GA. at the C5 fest. Keep practicing and you will get good at your reaction times. Good luck and have fun!!!!

If you are spinning on launch and threw the gears you have to change your strategy.
So you have an auto, and so I'd: -disable traction control -go around the water -two foot the brakes and gas -on the third yellow let off brake and squeeze the gas gradually. -if the car does not spin, get into the gas more quickly. I've typically run quicker with a little tire spin vs. a little bog. When I hit the gas gradually, I say out loud "Onnnnnnne."
