Those of you with the SS manual transmission problems

I was reading through the owner's manual(everyone should at least skim it). The manual is generic for all models and specifies features in certain areas. So it said something about V8 manual transmissions. There is a mode that allows the Camaro to shift from 1st to 4th gear from a standstill if the shift requirements are met. It also warns that if shifting to one of the skipped over gears(2nd or 3rd), there is a high risk of transmission damage.
Now I remembered that some of you were experiencing transmission problems like, not being able to shift into 2nd or 3rd. My question is, could some of you have inadvertantly toggled that mode on and shifted to an affected gear? Does this make any sense at all? I don't have that problem by the way. Maybe the dealers need to fill in the owners of the engine features. Just a thought.

its not a "toggle" thing. Its automatic at certian RMP and speed... its really. I bypassed that with the jumper right away. It is nearly impossible to switch to 2 or 3. I guess you could try to force it but why would you?

Its called CAGS and its been around a long time.

Computer Aided Gear Selection. It automatically makes the car got 1-4 under light loads as a means to save gas all it really does is make you use more gas by running up the RPM to get past it or lug your engine. I for one HATED it! Had it on 3 cars... disabled it on all 3. CAFE... what a joke..

I have the same 1st to 2nd gear shift problems. (grinding when trying to shift quick) Works fine when I double clutch. Not the answer for drag racing. Have a new MGW shifter but did not install yet, waiting for other Guys having the same problem to confirm I wasn't crazy. Was begining to think I needed to take tudoring to learn how to shift. Glad to hear others have fixed the same problem, will be calling my dealer first thing tomorrow.

I have it installed, and it is worth every cent. Don't know why they would put a skip shift on a camaro. Just buy an automatic. A manual gives you contol of your car.

It is my understanding that GM had to do this to meet some government fuel standard. I thought it sucked when the government got involved with my toilet. Now they seem to think they know how to design a stick shift. Damn these bunch of Do-Gooders.
