Most peole don't know you can weld plastics. If you take a look on pg1 about half way down you will see an example of plastic welding I did on my plate mount.

I was finishing up some wiring on a custom bike I built. I sometimes use clips that fasten with double sided tape to hold wiring harnesses in place where there is no provisions for them and then it hit me. Rather than glue or weld something in place I could use the clips to hold the scoop up and make it easily removeable, it works like a charm, they hold like crazy and the scoop snaps right in place. I took a few pictures and have started the body work, now I can move on to the drl lenses and get the facia painted once and for all.

Finally got the mailslot scoop finished, tied in the upper and lower scoops, installed the new lower grille/plate mount and had the facia painted. With the facia back on the car today was the first time I have been able to really drive the car after the VVT-3 cam install and it is running real strong. I can finally move on to a new project, perhaps I'll finish the wheels next. Here's a fewv quick pics.

Yes, the upper scoop and lower scoops all feed the intake, I originally had them going into the stock snorkel, I am in the process of fabricating a new snorkel that will be much cleaner than the setup pictured.

Nice work!
Will you adjust your tune for the additional air? |

Here are some pictures of an intake done for a 69 Camaro. Thought I'd share them with you. Perhaps you can use for ideas on your project. Keep us posted.

That's a cool set up.
I originally was working on a filter housing behind the facia but decided on keeping the intake tube shorter so decided to fabricate the snorkel so that it is fed by my scoops only and completely sealed from the engine bay but leaving the filter under hood. It will be tied in to an airaid as I had one on before and everything fits that system whereas it utilizes the stock snorkel as the oem intake. |

Finally I am competelly done with tying in all the scoops. I decided to make an aluminum scnorkel similar to the stock one. I increased the size and changed the angle to direct more air from the factory location as well as adding two inlets for the mail slot and lower scoops. I did this in the event I ever was forced to drive in outrageos rain fall, I could easily disconnect the added scoops and still have adequate air flow from the stock location. I was going to take a couple of pics of the snorkel but got involved with the install and forgot but I did get a few on the setup installed.
Although I have been driving the car since the cam install, now with the air intakes finished I can have Ted @ Jannety Racing dial in my tune then I will decide if/or what converter I will get. |
