Hi all,

I'm going to lower my 2010 1SS but I have two questions.

1. What springs would you recommend for a 1.5-1.7" drop. Its more aesthetic than performance motivated.

2. Do I have to replace the factory struts or can I simply install the new springs?

I'm sure you can just drop with the springs. Someone else will chime in. I have some Pfadt springs for 180 shipped. 1.25 drop though.

First off... Welcome to the forum...

The numbers you posted are a bit extreme for these cars. Most go 1 to 1.25" with drop springs and you won't need to change struts. There are a few vendors here that can help you with your selection. I know BMR has 1.25 drop in the front and 1" in the back that sets perfectly. Here's the link..http://www.bmrsuspension.com/?page=p...d=77&catid=224

You may want to post this in the Suspension forum (I'm sure it'll get moved there anyway), but if you do a search you could probably find exactly what you're looking for. I'm thinking Pedders will give you a good drop, but to get that low you may need to go with coilovers.

H&R and DSE make 1.5" drop but when you start getting that low without a coilover then your going to get a horrible ride. You should really be looking into coilovers.

BTW: to lower by springs then you only replace the spring...not the whole strut. Plenty of DIY stuff on here. And if you want to stick with a spring, jump on Rogan's Pfadt springs. Good price and that's about as low as you want to go and still perform well.

That is very low. You are turning your smooth riding Camaro into a Hardtail (Harley talk for rough as all hell).

I used Hotchkis springs and lowered car 1" to 1.25" for performance reasons. It greatly reduces the smooth ride to one much more bumpy- has to be a stiffer ride so your not hitting/bottoming out with every little pebble you run over.

Also, if you are planning on wider tires, you are limiting your options.

No way would I lower my car any further. Anything can be done, but there are consequences- not only for how much I lowered mine, but especially more so with what your asking to do. Good luck. You can always reverse it, but it is not a cheap option to take that lightly.

If you are going to be looking into going that low I would definitely check out a nice set of coil-overs or if you can stand to have the vehicle a little higher we have 1.4" drop springs. We have found that anything lower than 1.4" really puts a lot of strain on the factory struts/shocks so we don't recommend anything lower unless you do upgrade to the coil-overs. If there is anything I can help you out with let me know.

Welcome to the Forum.

I can offer you some Pfadt springs, you can change just the springs and keep your factory struts.

As everyone mentioned above, that amount of drop is getting into coil-over territory. You can go a max of 1.4" before you start having valving concerns, bump stop issues and alignment problems. 1.4" looks great on these cars and is much more economical than the coil-over route.

We can get springs for a 1-1.4" drop for you. If you want coil overs to get past that we have several options for you as well. Give us a call and we can go over some options.

As others have said, going that low with just springs will hurt your ride quality. Low is nice, but you have to be able to stand the drive. I'm on the Eibach Pro-Kit....1.3" up front and 1" in the rear for the V6. I believe the V8 kit is 1" all the way around. Here's some pics of my set-up....wheels are 22X9 265/35/22 front and 22X10.5 295/30/22 in the rear.
