I need honest opinions... Whats more important to you in a car?
So, I got rid of my 2011 Camaro SS about 2 yrs ago to get my wife a new Jeep Grand Cherokee (we both wanted another child, so I got her a SUV). Im not gonna get rid of my 2013 Silverado, but in about a year, Im getting another car. Wife is down with me getting whatever I want (yea, she's a keeper).
My question is which of the three should I get? 2012-14 ZL1- great handling car, fast, looks great, but slower in the 1/4 mile 2013-14 GT500- handles ok, fast, puts down more power, very fast 1/4 mile, BUT, lol, I cant stand Ford, this would be the only ford I would ever get 2015 Hellcat- lots o' power, excellent 1/4 mile, I think it looks the best, and by far sounds the best What im looking for is a fast stock car that I don't have to modify... I just don't want to regret whatever it is that I buy. For example, the ZL1 runs slower 1/4 mile times and puts down lesser power, I could buy a SS and modify it to get to 12.4-6 1/4 mile easy. This will be my weekend driver, so I don't care about refinement or "better for a daily driver". Right now im ranking the cars I want as: 1- Hellcat 2- ZL1 3- GT500 If anyone has experience in any of the other cars (I know the hellcat isn't out yet, but a srt8 maybe), I would love to hear about it... Thanks for any advice... |

I personally think if you find a shop that you trust to do some mods, the ZL1 is an amazing car that can't be touched by anything under 6 figures. Pretty much everyone that starts in an SS and goes to a ZL1 says OMG...there is such a difference. Pretty much everyone that mods a ZL1 says OMG this car is even more amazing. By a ZL1, get a 750 package done and you will be the happiest man alive....no regrets.

After I am done with my zl1 mods it will far outperform a Mopar.
Hellcat sounds great however falls way short in looks and improved suspension. I would take that extra money and put it in a slight used 2014 zl1 where I know its built solid. Ford,...well who cares. |

Do you have to buy new? Or gently used?

I am going to buy used, hopefully find a one-owner that was driven by someone that took care of the car. Right now, the ZL1 is the best bang for your buck. Ive found some on autotrader for about 44-46K. I would get white or black. I would only get a black hellcat.
I already have a 33k Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 32k(great deal) Silverado, and for me to spend roughly 40k on a sports car, I just don't want to be let down and regret anything. |

You're on a Camaro forum so of course we'll all say buy the ZL1 . Seriously; test drive them and decide for yourself. I bought my ZL1 2 years ago and still love it. However, I really like the Hellcat and wouldn't mind a test drive.

I know im on a Camaro forum, but I guess what I meant was the fact that I will not be driving this car daily, so I don't care about ride quality as much or whether the cup holders are big enough... I want to know whats going to have the most fun factor. I am a huge chevy fan, so im more than likely going to go with the ZL1. Im also assuming the challenger will hold its value more, as in I wont be able to find one for less than 50-55k in a year or so...
