Hi Domano. Check out this thread where I show a catch can and "1LE Style Clean Side Separator" I purchased for my non-1LE LS3. Your engine is consider to have a "clean side" and "dirty side". The PCV valve ventilates the dirty side by feeding oily crankcase vapors into your intake tract for incineration. A catch can separates the oil out of the vapors thereby keeping your throttle body etc cleaner. The clean side allows fresh air into the other side to promote good ventilation.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=347606 Here's a good technical discussion of the issue from a popular catch can manufacturer: http://www.revxtreme.com/index.php?r...=17&news_id=21 And here is a recent thread of a C5 member who took his hot rod in for a cam upgrade. Take a look at the pic in post #54 and note the coking that's occurred in the combustion chambers of this customer's engine w/o a catch can. In post #79, the builder responds to a question about whether or not a catch can would prevent this. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=346526&page=3
