Exclamation LS3, LT3, L99?

I've been on this site for a little while now, and had my 2011 Camaro LS for about as long. whats the difference between LS3, LT3, L99 and whatever else there might be? What exactly does it refer to?

Doesn't change the TYPE of engine...just the HP if you made those type of mods....Exhaust/CAI/Headers etc...

They refer to 3 different engines.

It might be worth mentioning that the L99 comes with AFM or Active Fuel Management, which is when the engine shuts down 4 cylinders under light load conditions to save on gas.

And many people here are not happy about that, it seems. Their big, bad Camaro V8 "transforms" into a 4 cylinder engine hehehe

LS3, L99, LFX, LLT..........
These are RPO (regular production option) codes referring to a specific option on your car. Like stated above, LS3 is the 426 horsepower V8 engine......and so on....
RPO codes are not for engines only. Every option and main part on your car has a RPO reference. I believe the glovebox has the list of all RPO codes for your particular car. Builders on the assembly line look at this list to determine which parts should be installed on your car.

I have L99 and the AFM doesn't bother me like it does to some. I just deal with it and enjoy the car.
