When I turn my car on, it definitely returns the favor.

Hey everyone,

So after having my new girl for about two weeks I decided it was time to start a journal about our adventures. I just graduated from college last spring, and as a graduation present my parents agreed to help me pay for a new car. I have been in love with the 5th gen since it's debut in Transformers when I was seventeen, so I instantly knew I would be searching my own. It took about three months of convincing the parents to go along with the idea of a Camaro, and scouring car sites for one that I could afford. I initially wanted to go for the SGM, as green has long been one of my favorite colors. I even found one that looked to be right for me, close by in Wisconsin (I'm in Minnesota). However, when I showed it to my girlfriend, she was less than excited about the color, thinking it was TOO MUCH green. I still don't totally agree, but nevertheless, I decided it would be wise to find something that would excite her just as much as it did me.

Not a week later I found "the one". She's a 2010 2LT/RS that was originally silver ice metallic. The previous owner had a custom paint job giving her a sleek black base color with bumper-to-bumper SGM racing stripes. It completely excited both my girl and myself. The worst part was traveling to west Kansas to pick her up, but she was more than worth it. Let the modding begin!

MODS TO DATE:
Green dyed interior stitching
Plastidipped bowtie
Mrt v2 exhaust
CAI Inc intake
Apex air scoop and relocated washer fluid reservoir
ZL1 pedals
SGM heritage grille
Plastidipped tail light bezels
CF speedometer & steering wheel bezels

Modding?

It wasn't two days with her 'til I started thinking of mods I'd like. I never have done anything with cars, so I had no idea where to start, which is what led me to the forums. I decided to start off as cheap and simple as can be, dying the leather stitching green to match the stripes.

and then...?

Excited by my results, I decided to move on to the next cheapest thing: changing the bow ties. First I looked at the vinyl method, and was able to score some free sheets from the local graphics shop. I got black and green, but the green didn't match, so black was the way to go. However, upon trying to install the vinyl, I found I was just totally unable to get the sticker on flat without any bubbles or creases. Thus, I went to the next cheapest option: Plasti Dip. This was a breeze, just cover the car around the logos, put on a few coats, then cut and peal off the coating from the chrome. And this is how she looks today.

So what's next?

I've done the easy stuff..now it's time to figure out where to go from here. I'm happy with the LT and all, the price was right and I'll definitely save on gas, but there is still that little boy in me that just wishes I could have gotten the power of the SS.

While that's not gonna happen, I am looking at what I can do to at least give me the deeper sound, or maybe pump it up a little bit. I hear good things about MRT v2.0 axle-back. I'm definitely open to suggestions.

When I was putting vinyl on my front bowtie i had trouble with it creasing and bubbling. I did manage to get it down as much as I could but right now I am in the process of painting my front bowtie, which is ending up being a pain. Like your plasti-dip idea.

What a great day.

Today I stopped at the mall for some fishing gear with my roommate. While we were inside, she decided to make a friend in the parking lot. So proud of my girl!

So, I just ordered a CAI intake/scoop/reservoir and MRT v2 exhaust. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations of where to go for help with the install. I'm currently in central MN, so the St. Cloud to Twin Cities region would be the easiest but other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Shouldn't be to difficult if you have any tools. I installed my axle back flowmasters in about an hour

Ramps, sawzall, and some sockets were the major tools

I got the CAI intake, scoop, reservoir and MRT v2 exhaust installed today. I must say, it is absolutely amazing! Truly sounds like a completely different animal!
