1LE Suspension track pack upgrade versus...

It appears GM Performance has finally released pricing for the 1LE track pack upgrade. It's basically $1500 MSRP. One dealer I spoke to will sell it for about $100 less.

I'd appreciate our resident suspension experts telling me if this is a good deal or if the aftermarket (Pfadt, Pedders, etc.) is a better deal at this price point.

Here is the GM Bill of Materials:

PART # Description Qty
22812942 Front Stab Bar Asm (bar, links, bushing, clamp, nut) 1
22786260 Rear Stab Bar Asm (bar, bushing, clamp, bolt) 1
22761221 Rear Stab Bar Link 2
22812982 Front Strut Asm, LH (strut, spring, mount) 1
22812983 Front Strut Asm, RH (strut, spring, mount) 1
22981391 Rear Shock 2
22922445 Rear Shock Mount, LH 1
22922446 Rear Shock Mount, RH 1
22845487 Rear Toe Link 2
20941932 Rear Cradle Bushing, Front 2
20941933 Rear Cradle Bushing, Rear 2
23102312 Installation Instructions 4

Also will this lower my car?

Will I need to change my wheels to 20x10s on all 4 corners like the 1LE?

It does sound good.

But my question is are the equivalent or better aftermarket parts less or the same $ ?

No. To have all those parts with a 3rd party will double the amount at minimum.

Agreed, equivalent or better parts would equate to aftermarket Subframe Bushings, Sway Bars, End Links, and Coilovers. You would definitely pay more than $1500 for all that stuff. But then again.....it would be better stuff too, especially the coilovers!!!! A big chunk of what you're paying for in the 1LE kit are those new struts/shocks. How good are they, or how much of a difference are they going to make on an SS? I can't really say, but I am pretty certain that a pair of adjustable coilovers would be a lot better!!!

Better, yes for more money.
Matched components known to work together for the same money? Nope.

Aftermarket will be better but alot less. The 1LE shocks are better then the 2012 ss, or should say firmer. How much better is needed on the sways vs aftermarket may come down to what you use them for and how hrad you push it.The sways are pretty big, but not adjustable, and sizes more for square tire/wheel setup like the 1le

Here is a first look at the track results of the 1le track pack upgrade on a 2010 LS3:

That's a great deal. The best aftermarket stuff is extremely pricey. I'm looking at upgrading beyond the stock 1LE using just a few Pedders components.

Just a minor upgrade to take the 1LE package a step further is the Pedders 1LE Permagrin Package. $1,000 for just a rear sway bar and 6 bushings. So $1,500 for a full 1LE track pack is amazing bang for your buck.

Another option would be to get everything that's in the GM package, less the rear sway bar and the Permagrin-included bushings, then buy the Pedders Permagrin. The Permagrin package will take the last bit of understeer out of the car at it's limits (bigger rear sway reduces understeer). That will cost a little more, but the handling will be out of this world good if you are a serious road courser. But if not, the 1LE package alone is phenominal.

I need more track time to confirm this but: my initial feeling is that I need more rear rubbers with the 1LE, I'm dealing with snap oversteer now. might have been because of cold tires... still the back is not following the front like it did. I'm running 4 x 275/40R20 Nitto NT05.
