XM radio question
Lately the XM radio has started to occasionally fade out (about 2 seconds or so)
and then fades back in. Not in a city area but on open freeway. Happens just like going under a bridge and back onto unobstructed sky. 36 month warranty runs out in a couple of days. Has anyone had a hardware problem that acts like this? |

My XM does the same thing ... I'm guessing that it's not mechanical but could be. What about FM stations; do they fade in and out? I do Pandora as well with no issues except a little static from the bluetooth transmitter but it's about 3 yrs old. About time for a new one. Good luck.

OlePhu the FM is fine. My son had the same suggestion jrhagen :-) Starting to think XM has decreased signal strength. Though there was some talk a while back about solar flares being more troublesome this year.

The same thing happens sometimes when I go under an overpass in my Camaro and my Tundra. Its the satellite.

Mine just randomly goes out like your stating, no obstructions or anything. It started about 6 months ago, went away for a while and is back. Does it in my Camaro and my Silverado. I talked to my sister in law in Ohio and she has same issue. Now my Silverado my link wont pause or rewind either.

It's definitely in the XM satellite signal strength ...not your unit. I have multiple cars with XM (both factory & aftermarket audio units), and they all do it.

Clouds... we're having all kinds of haze/smoke from all the fires around us here, it's causing weak signal problems, and I'm a mile high.

Same happened with my 2010 2SS/RS HU. I just switched out to aftermarket without SiriusXM but play it through BT from their app over cellular, so no need for line of sight. I added their Internet Radio app option to my other car's account and disabled the Camaro's service.
