Car Arrival

Does the dealer know exactly what day the car will arrive when its status is updated to being on the truck?

My dealer didn't. They knew that it was off the rail car waiting to be picked up by the car carrier, but I think it's up to the car carrier company as to when it gets picked up. I think they wait for a few cars going to the same area or towns close by, for cost reasons they won't just transport one car to a dealer from the rail yard. So it could be a day or a few days depending on how many cars are available to go to the same area. My car was dropped at the rail yard on a Tues afternoon and pulled into the dealership the next morning at 11:00AM. I was one of the lucky ones. After it's already on the car carrier, I wouldn't think it would take more than a day, depending on how many miles between the rail yard and the dealer.

nobody in the world can ever know exactly when your car will get anywhere....

BUT

usually, when the car ships from the plant, your dealer is notified. then they can give you an estimation. this estimation usually has to do more with the distance the dealership is from the plant more than anything...my dealer in tx told me 'usually about 10-15 days'..

IF the dealer has a good rapport with the trucking company they will usually get a day or two notice. Atleast our's does, from when it leaves railyard on truck to dealership

The dealer doesn't know exactly when it will come in. All they know is what the trucking company tells them and how long it usually takes for other cars to be delivered. Mine came about a day later than when they first thought it would arrive.
