14 ss2ss Dealer put on vert cover and it blew off on highway ....

What luck, the guy shows me how to put the cover on and does not hook the straps. I am driving home and it blows off on the highway for my first ride. Unreal , looks like I'll be heading back if it's damaged for a new one

Hopefully it didnt damage the car when it came off. Mine almost came off even with the straps fastened. Not a very good design in my opinion. Planning to mod mine when I get some time to mess with it.

I checked it out this morning and the car looks ok, the cover has a scuff mark on it but that is it. Not too bad. You would think the sales people would know how to brief you on the car appropriately. Let me know if you mod it and how it works.

haha, that's the best thing I've heard today! Very few sales people I've found actually know the product they sell

I had a 2" wide strip of Velcro sewn into the front that tucks down just behind the back seat, and put Velcro on the back side of the seat (along the hard surface) there is no way the cover will fly off now!!! it is work to take the cover off new. you have to pull the Velcro apart and lift the cover at the same time.

Thanks Steeler NY! I think I'll do the same. Tired of having to keep an eye on the cover while driving.

That's a really good idea and I'm not sure it's much harder than attaching those existing loops! Lol... One question: Did you sew the Velcro into the back of the seat as well? I'm thinking that just an adhesive backing wouldn't work very well for very long.

Fazer,

Sincere apologies to hear about the loss of your cover. Although I understand your displeasure, it's great that you're proactively reaching back out to your dealer about this situation. Feel free to keep us posted on the process if possible, and message me privately if additional assistance is needed.

Fazer, were the " retaining posts" behind the seats installed where the bungee straps should be hooked to? I don't know whether they now come installed from the factory on 2014's or whether it's still up to the dealer / owner to install these.

I believe most, if not all, of us have had to have these installed by the dealer as they didn't come installed at the factory. They're two small, black plastic short tube-like things with two bolts that should come in a plastic bag with the instructions on how to install them. The baggy for mine was in the tonneau cover bag. See the attached PDF for instructions.

I have used the adhesive backing I has been holding quite well. I am thinking about taking the plastic off and may be riveting the Velcro to the plastic.

Yes the posts were there the guy just did not hook them on. I really had no idea I needed to do that since it's my first vert
