I bought one from summit. It just squeezes under the front (my car has pfadt springs). I think the brand is "american forge"...made in china, but the company is actually based here in ny. It seems like a decent jack, i've had it for 2+ years, from what i remember it has a good warranty. Not a lightweight race jack though....it's big, heavy and takes some muscle to crank it up.

Here's a lift system you could use for other things as well..... expensive initially, but since it's so versatile, you may find it's worth it.

I just purchased one of these for that very reason... Works PERFECTLY!!! Heavy son-of-a-bitch, but that just screams "I might last a while" to me.

I had a Harbor freight transmission jack and I had the trans out of my Sonoma chained to it and it shifted and the trusses popped off and the trans nearly fell on me.

Turns out, they were JB Welded on the jack. They looked like good welds but

just take your cylinder to a hydraulics shop and have it rebuilt. they aren't exactly sophisticated.

This thread is relevant to my interests.

My craftsman is a POS and wont fit under the car anyways. In the market for something decent that wont empty my wallet.

FYI, napa, craftsman, corrnwell, Matco, Mac and snap-on jacks are all imported for at least the last 10 years or so. The only American jack mfgs that I know of right now is
US Jack and Gray Hydraulics, both very good as we are an authorized service center for all the mfgs I had mentioned above.

I went to Harbor Freight and bought their "Titanium" brand light weight race jack for $50. The "Crappy Chinese" jack hasn't failed yet in 5 years. I will never buy craftsmen again because of the sears here in town.
I went through 3 Craftsman floor jacks (in about 12 years), the last one being a heavy duty Professional model. They all failed. About 5 years ago, I dropped around $69 bucks on a Harbor Freight aluminum jack - if I'm going to replace them every 3-4 years, I might as well spend less. No problems so far... I really like it.
