Got my helmet and magnetic numbers from this site below. Best price I could find and there was a discount when I ordered too. Not sure if there is one right now, you'll have to search.

I've never done autocross or track before. Only drag strip. I do plan on running drags at Epping race track so I will need to get a new helmet at some point.
So am I putting you on the list?

Lots of questions... sorry if answers are in the original post and I just overlooked them:

1) Helmets... open or closed faced? Is sizing info on the soloperfomance site spot on? Any make/model recommendations?

2) Will the event run rain or shine?

3) Are (driving but non-Camaro) buddies welcome to join the crew? If I can make it, I'd like to see if a friend wants to bring his 996.

4) Is track insurance required?

5) What must you do to prep the car? What else should you do? What kind of wear & tear can I expect per event (fluids, pads, etc)? I realize this will vary but I'd be a rookie and wouldn't be driving too aggressively.

6) Any updates on work assignments?

7) Would we need to commit 6-8 C5s by a certain date to get our own class?

It's been a crazy summer for me so I wouldn't be able to commit until much closer to the event. I'd like to drive one of these eventually so I'm just trying to learn more at this point.

No problem: I have added a lot more information from the questions you have asked, but here are your answers...

1) Helmets... open or closed faced? YES - meeting the SNELL requirement. Chevy 3 uses this style and passed Tech

Is sizing info on the soloperfomance site spot on? Yes it was for me.

Any make/model recommendations? I got HJC and like it alot, great fit. See link to what I purchased and I can Track with it too. http://www.soloperformance.com/HJC-M...et_p_2206.html

2) Will the event run rain or shine? Yes, except under extreme weather.

3) Are (driving but non-Camaro) buddies welcome to join the crew? If I can make it, I'd like to see if a friend wants to bring his 996. SURE. As long as they are prepared and pass Tech, they will be ok.

4) Is track insurance required? NO - I'm told we are technically not racing.

5) What must you do to prep the car? What else should you do? What kind of wear & tear can I expect per event (fluids, pads, etc)? I realize this will vary but I'd be a rookie and wouldn't be driving too aggressively. We were all Novices in the beginning. You should be in good shape to participate. I just made sure I did a recent oil change, my Diff and Tranny fluids were changed already, but that's more a preference. Your F1's and Pirellis will do just fine and we'll help you with the right tire pressures when you get there. You can expect tire wear and it will take a few miles after the event for them to return to your daily driver feel. Everyones brakes held up just fine but you can expect to heat them up pretty good. DO NOT USE YOUR EBRAKE AFTER A RUN ON HOT ROTORS. Wax the crap out of the nose and the lower sides as this makes any cone gunk wipe right off, or you can get painters tape widest you can find and tape it up. Works great. I have Xpel and I will go the wax route as always.

6) Any updates on work assignments? Yup - see post #1 for the list. you will be assigned an assignment which for most will be shagging cones for 1/2 hour.

7) Would we need to commit 6-8 C5s by a certain date to get our own class? The sooner you know the better and more notice I can give them to prepare for us. Do the best you can and if it's last minute, so be it. Better you come at the last minute, then worry about telling me no now cuz your not sure.

It's been a crazy summer for me so I wouldn't be able to commit until much closer to the event. I'd like to drive one of these eventually so I'm just trying to learn more at this point.
I didn't know as much as I'm telling you now and I went and learned it in the Novice walk throughs and the instructors and members help you out. Everyone wants you to enjoy yourself and believe me you will. I got be by V6's and I didn't care cuz it was so much fun to finally drive my car like it was meant to be driven and see what she could do. Keep asking questions if needed but I hope you can make it!!!
