...and I don't know if you could really take off a full 6 seconds had it not been damp...

No way to tell. The time is the time. If you want a better run and think you can shave off more time, do what any normal person would do. Put it back out there on a dry day and HAVE AT IT.

That car was being pushed 99% of the time to the edge. That was amazing driving and quite frankly, I don't know how much better it could have gotten.

6 seconds better. Just under 7:30 is my opinion.

Interesting stuff...

13 Mile Nurburgring. 3.8 seconds vs ZL1 (with smaller tires and no CAI). Seems like a toss up to me. Both winners! Camaro design team has done a great job of getting the Iconic brand its' due recognition! To have either is a blessing! "Rain" "what ifs" "cloudy day with denser air" ..... lots of variables may have impact on the published times. Bottom line, the Z/28 is another monster available for purchase at your local dealer! Go get one!

Someone notes on here the difference in steering input. Look at Dominic Farnbacher's record run in the Viper...it was violent ALL THE TIME, in the limiter, over the strips with one tire in the grass, BARELY SAVING IT and on a dry track. Is the z/28 that much better engineered that you don't need to do that?....OR....is the violent style the kind of driving you need on a dry track to be in the 20s? See also the recent Porsche Spyder run...a bit less violent but still violent. Both guys are pro drivers...NOT employees of the company and I believe both are German and both have tons of hot shoe hours on the ring. I am not taking away anythign from this run and I think he did the best he could with the dampness...just speculating. They should shave given him 6 points and a hans at minimum...the belts would have helped I'm sure.

I guess you do not know what "segment time" or "theoretical best lap" is.

I'm gonna guess the damp/wet track is why more of what you describe isn't seen on the video with the Z/28....Hard in, fast out of several turns seemed mild, and the few he did he got squirrelly when getting on it....
I'm sure he pushed it as hard as he felt he could without crashing...

What little tracking I've done, any sliding or corrections cost time....Maybe with these cars, smoother is faster....I dunno....

The spring rates in the Z/28 have not been released, but my guess is they are lower probably close to our 8kg front and 10kg rear base coilover setup or a bit under. The special DSSV Z/28 tuned strut valving addresses harshness with well tuned high and low speed damping. The ZL1 with MRC will ride better in touring mode, but the ZL1 in full track mode shouldn't be all that different than the Z/28.

As for road noise, there are quite a few ZL1 owners that pull the exhaust fuse or change out the exhaust because they think it too quiet. Having the option to be as quiet as the ZL1 is a plus.
I have 950 Hyperco springs rear and my 305s are still very street able.

Am I the only one that thinks the car hit the speed limiter on that last straight away. This car should be way faster than 160 mph Listen to the motor and look at the rpms.

I know some executives at Hyperco. Good people. They make some of the best motorsports springs in the world. They are all over the major racing circuits from F1 on down. They have some trick technology.
