Front suspension knock question/remedies

Bought a 2011 6cyl. for the wife and I am experiencing a very nasty knock from the front suspension when going over any chattering bumps or speed bumps. Took it to the dealer and they said "many complaints" with GM but it's normal and no recall? How can this be normal? Any help, cures or input would be appreciated. I tried doing a search but am new to the sight and learning the navigation here.

Thanks all!

It is in fact normal. The strut is a floating design and has a retainer cap that keeps it from falling out. There is a small gap between this cap and the strut tower so if your suspension is moving faster than the strut and spring can react then the cap will hit the top of the strut tower and make that noise you hear. Just the nature of the beast.

At some point I thought they changed something in the cap so the impact wouldn't be as loud but I'm not sure when(if) the change was made.

Ok...well I guess if it's normal, we'll live with it. Would aftermarket suspension cure it it wonder??
