Does the led strip require a resistor when hooked up this way?

Nope. The strips have resistors in them.

I just out this on last night in the dark just using my cell phone light. Install was easy and it looks great. I went with red and I was curious how good it would show up during the day, but it still recognizable! Easy, cheap mod, I recommend this for anyone who hasn't done it yet.

But I guess that is what most people have opted for.. guess I can start there. I have my Oracle LED's just sitting on garage shelf waiting for me to install |

Yes I did, then a few weeks ago I pulled out my bulb and colored it with a red permanent marker and it matches well. There is another DIY topic that shows how to set one up with a switch. You might want to take a look at that one.

Can I run them through a simple on/off switch to the forward cigarette lighter?

1) the cigarette lighter fuse is the number one blown fuse in any car. 2) your car will have to be in accessory or on for this circuit to be active. Number 2 is a good/bad thing - if you'd like to ensure you aren't going to walk away and kill your battery this is perfect, but, if you'd like to stand next to your car while the car is off with your footwell lighting on (say at a cruise in or night show) this won't work.

Just completed my installation of RGB footwells.
Amazon Parts: 15 feet RGB SMD waterproof $16.18 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 2x 8 foot RGB cable $2.99 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 IR Music Controller $15.86 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Switching this controller out for a Diode Dynamics RF slimline controller that remembers last setting. Total cost $35 plus T-tap, crimp on fork connector (ground connection), heat shrink and a couple of feet of 18 gage wire I had laying around. Have 10 feet of extra LED strip to use under the hood for grill and engine cover lighting. Plan to hook that into the same controller. Tied into the traction control switch light (yellow wire) This was the easiest to tie into just by popping up the bezel that the switch is mounted on and T-tapped the yellow wire. The lights come on when the doors are opened and go off 15sec after close/lock. No switch required and they turn on/off automatically....Can manually switch them off with the remote. Happy Modding! Joel

WOW, all you guys doing purple/green/red/blue, am I the only one doing standard white? :d'
And I have a question I'm doing 4 LED strips, can't I just put all the grounds together and ground it, and then combine all the power wires and tap it into the gray wire? Or should I put a fuse somewhere in the wire tapping to the gray wire. |

I got my interior lights from Tony, Footwell, ABL, Door Handles, Dome light bulb Green and Cup Holders and they work great. Any help I needed from Tony and he was right there with the answers. I would highly recommend Tony.
