Should I Lower My '11 SS W/ GFX
Is lowering my 2011 SS with GM GFX a good idea? I love the way the cars look lowered, but I am afraid that if I drop it I might start hitting my front nose on speed bumps/parking blocks. I have been looking at the Hotchkis lowering springs because they only drop it 1” as opposed to some other manufactures that are 1.25”+.
Does anyone with GFX have lowering springs on their ride and if so do you find yourself bottoming out anywhere? |

I have mine lowered 1" with the Eibach pro kit and no issues and our roads suck here. Getting ready to put my 21's back on too...

I have the factory GFX and the Eibach 1" Pro Spring Kit installed. The only thing you need to watch out for are the parking stops (some are higher than others) and when pulling up to sidewalks. If your not carefull you will damage the front lip......just need to learn to judge your distance or park where there are no stops.

I have the gfx and I have the hotchkis 1" and yes you have to becareful how you drive, especially getting to parking lots and driveways, if your careful and just slow down you should be fine. I wasn't as careful once getting to a parking lot and I hit the front lip and I got a small scratch, but I was able to take it off. It looks so good with the gfx and lower, you would like the look.

I lowered mine with Pedders springs. I also have full gfx.
The biggest thing I find is go slow when exiting or entering a drive over a curb. The quick transition causes the car to bounce and then rub. If you go slow and on an angle (one front tire at a time) you will be fine. Hard to clean around the rear wheel well. No problem on the track either.

Man, im still torn on this - it does look killer with the gfx, but I had gfx on my 99 and no matter how careful I was, I inevitably hit either parking blocks (sometimes they have rebar sticking up just enough to F up a car!) That and entering/exiting graded parking lots...its nice not.worrying about that now ...

We don't recommend going much lower with the 5th gen Camaro. You'll see that most performance suspension companies are pretty close together in the amount their springs drop the car. We found that lowering the car 1” made it possible for the typical GFX-equipped Camaro to drive around without worrying about bottoming out on every dip in the road or speed bump. We also wanted to make sure we designed the springs to keep the cars’ suspension within the best range of suspension travel for the proper camber gain during articulation.

Mine is really low with the GFX. You just learn real quick on how to park and approach steep angles!
I hit the driveshaft more than anything. Take the speedbumps SLOWWW Jason
